into the weekend

We’re kicking off the weekend with one of our favorite monthly happenings, Late Nights at the DMA.  We’re especially psyched about the traditional American Indian dance and music performances and revisiting Art of the American Indians: The Thaw Collection (it’s really stunning).

Once we’ve taken in all the DMA goodness, we’re going to head across the street to The Nasher to hear Beatles cover band, Hard Night’s Day in the garden.  My girlies are quite possibly the world’s biggest (pint-sized) Beatles fans, so I’m predicting some serious rockin’ out (by the girlies, apparently I’m not allowed to “rock out” in front of the kids anymore per their directive…it’s a sad day friends.)

On Sunday we’re planning a little Oak Cliff adventure (more specifically a little Belmont Hotel adventure) starting with brunch at Smoke followed by a peek at the goodies in the The Vintage Mobile (a vintage clothing and accessories filled bus that takes up residence in Smoke’s parking lot on Saturdays and Sundays).

Last but not least, we’ll partake in an early afternoon dip in the Belmont’s pool (the real draw).  The pool is open to the public on Sundays from 1-5 until September 4th… (Given the weekend forecast, we think this is an awfully kind gesture…  Thanks Belmont!)
